Robin’s Nest Café opened in November 2014, named after its founder and owner, Dr. Robin Poe-Zeigler of The New Hope Center for Reproductive Medicine, which occupies most of the first floor of the office building. Dr. Poe-Zeigler wanted to create a nice environment where her patients, families and friends, as well as other area office workers, could relax and spend time together while enjoying a delightful fare named after the theme that runs from wall to wall.
Kathleen Rooney of Shore Gallery & Designs brought her expertise to the interior design of the Café with an astute understanding of Dr. Poe-Zeigler’s vision. Cathy Cox of Brushstrokes created the MacKenzie-Childs-themed murals and decorative painting to engage patrons in a serene escape of perpetual spring! You will find elements of MacKenzie-Childs, the manufacturer of whimsical furniture and ceramics carried throughout, even to the napkins decorating the café’s enticing menu selections.
Chef Donna Finney-Brown has created a palette of menu items which brings the Robin’s Nest theme to all of our senses! She is an artist as well, with a history of presenting unique and inviting menus…from the former Clark’s in Ghent in Norfolk to the Iron Gate in Virginia Beach. Even deli sandwiches take on a whole new perspective with the names of birds…such as the Laughing Gull featuring steamed tuna salad or the Blue Heron, overstuffed with roast beef, turkey breast, ham, swiss, provolone, sweat hot peppers, and other wonderful seasonings.
Regardless what your occasion may be…a small team needing an inspiring place to brainstorm, an outing for your red hat luncheon, sandwiches and salads delivered for the staff meeting, or just a warm seat by our gas fireplace on a cold, wintery morning while you enjoy a salmon bagel and cup of coffee…we are excited to welcome you!
